The Official College of Psychologists of Madrid warns us that the different practices of video games are associated with some negative and harmful effects on health, such as the fact of creating a harmful habit and encourage addictions.

Some players are very involved in the game and become isolated from the world, and as a consequence feel that their real life is the game.

These negative effects can become detrimental causing effects such as:

- Seizures

- Epilepsy

- Aggressive behavior

- Anxiety

- Depression

- Social phobia

- Irrational anger

Most children and adolescents who play video games do not become addicted or have other problems. Addiction usually comes when video games start to interfere with other parts of life, once this problem manifests itself it is time to intervene. A good way to combat it is to manage the time spent playing.

In the event that your child or adolescent resists your efforts to cut back on video games, call your pediatrician for advice. Your pediatrician can tell when a teen is struggling and knows how to provide the help your child needs.
