Currently, Fortnite has two game modes. The first called "Horde" will ask you to survive waves of carcasses that will appear at night as long as possible. The goal is to prepare you as best as possible. The second "Battle Royale" offers you to be dropped on a map in the company of 99 other players, the goal being to remain the last living character on the map.
Horde mode:
This game mode offers you to embody a character having survived an attack of carcasses (equivalent to zombies). In this mode, you will have to protect yourself and survive as long as possible from the waves of carcasses that will arrive at night. In this game mode, you will be able to build your shelter, collect resources, explore the surroundings and set traps. At the start of the game, you will have the option of choosing between four classes: adventurer, soldier, ninja or builder.
Resources and Buildings:
After starting your game, you will have to collect as many resources as possible and start your constructions. Fortnite offers you two types of resources: primary and secondary. Primary resources consist of wood, stone, and metal. You can easily find them nearby by interacting with a tree, a rock, cars, etc. These materials will allow you to build a floor, a ceiling or walls, in the material used. Secondary resources are rarer (jewels, flowers, etc.) and are intended to build more advanced foundations.
Crafts and Blueprints:
In addition to the foundations, you will be able to craft weapons in Fortnite. For this, you will have to find diagrams as well as the requested resources. Blueprints will drop from containers, loot blades, and missions. Depending on the color of the scheme, you can obtain more or less rare weapons. The rarity of a pattern being indicated by its color:
- Gray diagram: common
- Green pattern: uncommon
- Blue scheme: rare
- Purple Blueprint: Epic
- Orange Blueprint: Legendary
- Brown scheme: mythical
Enemies (carcasses):
Enemies are divided into three groups: Basic, Mist, and Elemental Husks. Basic husks are the weakest in Fortnite, predictable, and deal low damage. the carcasses of the mist will be more imposing and powerful. These are rarer and will only appear after you have progressed far enough in your game.
Finally, elemental carcasses inflict damage according to their element: fire carcasses will burn you and destroy wood more easily. Nature husks will absorb your life and destroy metal more easily. Water carcasses can slow you down and destroy stone more easily.
Medals and Awards:
After you finish your game, you will be graded based on three criteria: combat, utility, and construction. These medals will allow you to earn many rewards at the end of the game.
How do I get a combat medal? Deal the most damage to carcasses on your team.
How do I get a utility medal? Explore and collect the most items in your team.
How do I get a construction medal? Build and destroy the most foundations in your team.
Battle Royale mode:
In this game mode, you can play Solo or in a Squad. We advise you to first play in a squad if you have a friend on hand. You will learn how to play together, understand how the weapons work and also be able to discover the map more easily. The "Solo" mode being considered by some as the "Hard" mode of the game.
Solo mode - alone: you play alone and will only have to trust yourself. We do not recommend that you bond with a stranger during your first games. If you want to create an alliance, it is better to choose one of the other two modes.
Squad mode - 2 to 5 people: first of all, know that it is possible to create a team with your friends but also with strangers via the “automatic matchmaking” button. It is in this game mode that you will be able to develop the most advanced strategies by playing carefully and quickly exploring each building in a city, setting traps, bypassing barriers, etc. In addition, know that the person going the furthest in your team will earn many points for his squad!
The map :
Very basic advice but will take a lot of your time. Fortnite currently only has one map, but you're going to have to know it inside out to find your way around better, create strategies, locate chests and survive as long as possible. The same goes for your equipment to collect the best items without wasting time analyzing them.

Adapt the game to your gameplay:
Before even starting a game of Fortnite, go to the game options and choose your favorite keys. Basically, the game is played in "WASD", bind all your keys in order to quickly know which key to press to interact with an object, quickly use your first aid kit, reload your weapon, etc.
These few seconds will save you precious time during the game as well as in combat. Also, feel free to tweak the camera to find out which one you're most comfortable with.
The choice of landing:
Prefer to jump towards the end of the course. People wanting to play quickly will jump from the beginning and kill each other, the undecided or beginners will jump towards the middle of the course, leaving you in the minority in the last zones. Quickly collect equipment:
The early game is extremely punishing and a good start can take you quite far in Fortnite. Choose your landing spot well and collect as many items as possible. Tip: don't click on each object on the ground, but directly on the "Object stack management" button to quickly take everything that is near you at the start of the game. Afterwards, you can skim your inventory.
Hiding and waiting for the enemy...:
Finally, never forget to close the doors and wait in a corner of a room when you know an enemy is approaching. By closing this door, he won't be able to play with the camera and try to see you, and you can wait for him patiently behind it. In addition, turn up the sound to hear the sound of his footsteps and thus better spot him. The same is true when you move. The sound is an important point of the gameplay: it tells you if there is a person nearby, shots and any other important data.
