2Topics
What would a kingdom be without subjects? This rule also applies in Kingdom: New Lands. Recruiting new subjects allows you to obtain Archers, Builders, Knights,... in short, units that will protect your kingdom but also make it prosper. Some topics only become available after upgrading your camp. Here is the list of the subjects encountered as well as their specificities.
The King or The Queen:
This is the character you control. You start with a normal horse, but it is possible as you progress to change this mount for a more interesting mount (see later in the tutorial).
The ghost :
The ghost is an entity that appears at the start of each discovery of a new island. It allows you to show you the direction to follow to find the campfire of your kingdom.
Merchant :
This character is present at the main campfire during the first days. By giving him some gold, he leaves and comes back the next day to give you more coins. However, note that the merchant is not available in islands 4 and 5.
Beggars :
Beggars are easily found in encampments deep in the forests. Give them a coin so that they become peasants: they then move towards your camp. If a tool is available (bow, sickle, hammer,...), they will automatically take it and thus become archers, builders, farmers,...
Farmers :
A beggar automatically becomes a peasant when you give them a coin. It's up to you to direct them to the profession you want.
The archers:
If you buy a bow, a peasant becomes an archer. He is an archery subject, able to protect your camp, but also hunt to bring you extra coins.
The builders:
If you buy a hammer, a peasant becomes a builder. The latter takes care of the construction and improvement of structures, but also of cutting trees if necessary.
The banker :
Very interesting character for managing your gold. During the day, he walks around the campfire, at night he takes refuge in the building. Give him coins to keep them safe from theft. He will thus make your investment prosper and will give you gold according to the number of coins you have entrusted to him.
Farmers :
If you buy a scythe, a peasant will become a farmer. He can then cultivate the fields around your camp provided he builds a farm. If the farm is upgraded, he will shelter inside during the night.
The Knights :
If you buy a shield, a peasant will become a knight. They will recruit archers and you can order them to attack a portal.
The hermitages:
These latter subjects can be recruited for 1 coin. They allow you to upgrade a level 4 tower into a special level 5 tower.
3Buildings
Several buildings are available in Kingdom: New Lands. Each building has a special feature and almost all of them can be upgraded. To construct or upgrade a building, you must own at least one builder and spend a certain amount of coins. Note that to upgrade your buildings to the maximum, you must first upgrade the wooden monument you find while exploring the forest.
The wooden (then stone) monument:
While exploring the island, you spot a monument made of wood. Upgrade it to stone. You will be able to improve your buildings so that they too are made of stone.
The walls :
Walls serve to prevent creatures from entering your camp. They can be upgraded up to level 4. When damaged, they are automatically repaired by the builders.
Towers :
Archers automatically settle in empty towers. They can be upgraded up to level 4, where they can accommodate 3 archers at the same time. Towers allow you to attack creatures that approach your camp.
The farms :
To build a farm, you must locate a watercourse and begin construction. You can upgrade a farm to level 2, where it can house farmers overnight to protect them from attacks.
Catapults:
By improving your main building, you will be able to unlock the catapults. They can eliminate several creatures in one hit, but the cooldown before the next shot is quite long.
The castle :
The main and central building. It is very important to improve the castle quickly in order to unlock the improvements of the other buildings. It can be upgraded to level 6.
Vessel :
Somewhere on every island is the wreckage of a ship. By paying a first time, you begin its restoration. You then have to pay 2 coins for each new coin you want to add. This ship is very expensive to repair, but is also very important, as it is the only way to leave the island in order to reach the next island.
Teleporters:
It is quite long to cross the island from side to side with your mount. So there are teleporters that allow you to quickly travel from one point to another. Look for a purple light after destroying a creature portal: this is a good place to build a portal that you can use.
4Animals
Animals, such as rabbits and deer, are gold resources in the game. Your archers will regularly hunt them in order to collect coins, which they will later give to you. To these two creatures are added various "decorative" animals and dogs. Let's see the peculiarity of these animals.
Rabbits :
Rabbits only spawn in Wild Areas. So be careful not to build farms or buildings where tall grass grows. Each rabbit dies in one hit and earns 1 coin.
Deer:
Deer mostly spawn in forests. They flee when you approach them: you can thus force them to approach your archers and your turrets. Each deer requires two arrows to die and is worth 2 coins.
Dogs :
You find dogs by destroying a fallen tree. These animals then follow you and are very useful in telling you where the next attack of Greed (creatures) is going to come from. Note that if you use a teleporter, the dog will not appear with you: it will have to cross the area to find you.
5Enemies
Finally, let's look at the creatures that attack you after dark: the Greeds. There are several kinds, but they are all dangerous. If a Greed attacks your ruler, it steals his coins first. If he attacks again, you lose your crown. Likewise, if a Greed attacks a unit, the latter will lose its tool and become either a peasant or a beggar.
The main portal:
At the far end of an island is a large portal carved into the cliff. The Greeds come out that way. You cannot permanently destroy this portal. If you manage to destroy it, you will be quiet for only 3 days, while it is rebuilt.
The portals:
On the island, mainly in the forests, you can come across other portals. They are closed during the day, but at night they let out Greeds. Unlike the main portal, you can destroy these portals permanently.
The Greeds:
These are the most common creatures. Relatively weak, they attack you to steal your parts or the tools of your units during the day. At night, many of these creatures rush to your walls to destroy them.
Armored Greeds:
These Greeds are a bit tougher. Depending on the mask they wear, it will take more arrows to break it, in order to eliminate the creature itself.
The Trappers:
These large creatures fly to your camp regardless of walls and towers. They can kidnap your units and are quite resilient. However, if you manage to reach them with a catapult shot, you will be able to get rid of them.
The Breeders:
They are huge, very powerful and very resilient creatures. Regularly, they will spawn normal Greeds to support them. They can reflect your catapult shots back at you, and quickly destroy your walls.
