Grand Theft Auto Online (GTA) continues to produce content, and we're all here for it! Since then, the online multiplayer spin-off has seen many changes and had many additions in terms of cars, missions, and other goodies. But the latest update is the biggest yet, The Cayo Perico Heist.
This new heist ups the ante by taking the action to an island just off of Los Santos, which means cruising the streets of Vinewood will have to be put on hold when you travel to Cayo Perico and experience a whole new scene. Target? Drug lord El Rubio. The cost? A lot, but it's worth it.
So how do you start and end the Cayo Perico Heist?
How to do the Cayo Perico Heist in GTA Online
First, you will need to make sure your system is up to date for the content to load. On PS4 this comes in update v1.35, on Xbox One and PC it is v1.52 so do all updates before loading into game otherwise the Cayo Perico Heist might not appear.

Head to the Music Locker
You will see the Music Locker marked on your map as a small music note symbol. On the PS4, the map can be accessed by pressing the touchpad, on PC you will have to press the ESC key. Go to the waypoint after receiving a text message from Miguel Madrazo, the son of Martin Madrazo. The text will appear shortly after you first load into the game when you are out of the lobby. If you have ever visited the Diamond Casino & Resort, this area may look familiar to you, as the club is next to the casino on the left side. This is where you will find the entrance. Enter the club and pay the $150 entry fee, fees may be lower depending on your attire.
Inside the Music Locker, you can start the mission immediately or spend some time showing your moves to your friends first. To find Miguel Madrazo, head to the private suite downstairs. A cutscene will begin and the mission details will become clear.
Buy and ride the Kosatka Submarine
The Kosatka submarine is the way you can start the mission. It is available in Warstock Cache and Carry, where you will need to purchase it. On the D-Pad, press the up arrow to open your phone. Go to the web browser and open it. Many websites appear on the homepage when you first load into the browser, so you'll probably be able to find it right off the bat. But, if for some reason you have trouble seeing, you can use the full URL by typing www.warstock-cache-and-carry.com.
The Kosatka sub isn't the cheapest, at $2, and that's only for the base sub itself. As with many things in GTA Online, you can buy extras to trick it, which of course will increase the price.

To board the Kosatka submarine, you must apply for it. Hold the touchpad on PS4 or press M on PC to bring up the interaction menu.
You should be able to see the Services tab when you open it. Select this, then do the following:
Services> Killer Whale> Killer Whale Request
This will trigger a phone call from submarine captain Helmsman Pavel who will tell you it's time to board the Kosatka.

Access your map again and you should see the submarine icon off the coast of Los Santos in the Pacific Ocean. Place your waypoint marker there and drive to the coast. Once you reach the shore, you will be able to see the sub breaking the surface of the water and overtaking about a quarter of the way. At this point you will need to find a way to reach the submarine. If you are hardcore you can try swimming but it just takes time. We therefore recommend that you return to the Interaction menu where you can request a drifter specifically for the purpose of allowing you to reach the Kosatka. Navigate the menu as follows:
Services> Kosatka> Dinghy request
You can then board the submarine through the sealed front entrance.
Upon entering you will meet the helmsman Pavel and a cutscene will ensue. He will then proceed to tell you even more about the Cayo Perico Heist itself. To start the mission you will need to be President, CEO or VIP. To make one, open your interaction menu again and choose either Motorcycle Club or SecuroServ and from there you can change your status. After that, head to the control desk and interact with the planning screen which will allow you to activate the next part of the mission.
Upon entering you will meet the helmsman Pavel and a cutscene will ensue. He will then proceed to tell you even more about the Cayo Perico Heist itself. To start the mission you will need to be President, CEO or VIP. To make yourself one of these:
– Open interaction menu
– Choose between Motorcycle Club or SecuroServ
– From here you can change your status.
After that, head to the control desk and interact with the planning screen which will allow you to activate the next part of the mission.
