Genshin Impact is not an open world RPG like the others but is above all akin to a gacha. A genre that we see especially on mobiles, but to which more classic players are not necessarily accustomed. So there are several things to know about how to get a new character or how currencies work. We explain all this to you.
Summary
How to summon new characters?
When you unlock the Vows (after the battle with the dragon when you first meet Jean), you gain access to banners that will put rare characters forward like Venti above, who is a pretty powerful 5 star character. For this you will have to spend either 1 stone for a wish or 10 stones for 10 wishes. Wishes obviously correspond to invocations.
Summons and Banners
The first thing to take into account is that these invocations have a large part of luck. Getting the rarest units is tough, but that's what makes the genre so special. Depending on the banners displayed in the game, you will have the chance to obtain:
- only characters
- characters and weapons
- only weapons
The "Details" tab allows you to know the percentage of obtaining each unit or weapon. Also keep in mind that Genshin Impact has a “warranty” system. Again, this varies between banners but for Venti for example, you will get a guaranteed 5 star weapon or unit after 90 wishes (so 9 times 10 wishes) and a 4 star weapon or more every 10 wishes.
How do I get wish stones?
Banners currently break down into two types:
- The events : who are present for a limited time
- The permanent classics: who are always present
During this launch, “Ballade en pints” is an event banner (indicated at the top left of the screenshot above) while “Envie de Voyage” is a permanent banner. They therefore do not use the same stones to function.
What are Wishing Stones and how do I get them?
To invoke on the event banners, you must have Stones of Fate while for the permanent banners, you must have Destiny Stones. To get them, you need to exchange them for primo gems. This is what you constantly collect by completing missions, opening chests, completing side objectives, etc.
It is also possible to recover them by exchanging them for starfish and/or Astrions. These are two extra resources that you get each time you wish. Note that you can also obtain characters or duplicates by purchasing them from Asteria exchanges. A rotation takes place periodically, so the shop does not offer the same ones indefinitely.
How to get primo-gems other than by playing?
Genshin Impact is free-to-play but it obviously offers microtransactions which complicate things a bit because instead of buying primo-gems directly, you must first exchange them for primary crystals that you obtain for real money.
As you can see, the hit of a crystal is equivalent to a primo-gem which suggests that the crystals will be used in the future for something other than the purchase of primo-gems.
Which characters to summon?
More generally, the question in a gacha is whether or not to invoke on this or that banner. Genshin Impact is a little above that with its very particular character based mainly on exploration and dungeons. Of course, you will always have characters that are better than others (the 5 stars to go quickly) but you must first think about those you find likable and with whom you would like to play.
This is good because the title offers players to try out units in a dedicated menu by doing a little challenge against a ton of monsters to see what they are capable of and if the style of play suits you. However, favor multi-invocations x10 because it is better to be sure that we can invoke enough to obtain the guarantees of the banner.
