How do I get the insect net?

The net is one of the basic tools you will get during your adventure. You will get it very quickly: after doing the first few minutes of introduction to Tom Nook, you will get the Rudimentary Net (at the same time as the Fishing Rod). You will get it automatically.

If you ever want to have a new one afterwards, you can either make it from 5 Tree Branches, or go buy one at the store. A little later, you'll get blueprints for crafting the Net, which will have better durability before breaking.

How to hunt insects?

To hunt insects, you have to start by… equipping yourself with a net. When it's done, you must:

Approach the insect
Hold button A on your Switch to get into position
Release the same button when you want to capture the insect

To improve your chances of success, you must have a distance equivalent to the length of the pole. Also avoid running. Some insects may get scared and leave if you get too close. Feel free to hold A to attempt a stealthy approach. Some insects move, it's up to you to anticipate their movement.
